2012 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Coeur de Cuvee (France, Champagne) $165
This Champagne shows almost contradictory qualities; on the one side it shows a richness and vinous quality, and on the other it is precise, youthful and austere. With air it reveals hints of peach, smoke, patisserie and spice.
This is a Champagne of great depth and it very well might be Vilmart's best creation to date. |
2018 Domaine de Colette Regnie Selection Vieilles Vignes (France, Burgundy) $16.95
This is a bright, clean, elegant and quite impressive with its forward raspberry notes that are kept in check by light earth, black cherry, and a dusting of minerals. Fantastic quality, lovely price. |
2019 Yann Bertrand Beaujolais Oh!... (France, Burgundy, Beaujolais) $40
This juicy Gamay from Yann Bertrand is one of our favorite wines to drink. Notes of juicy cherries, wet earth, and white pepper dominate the wine’s complex yet easy-drinking palate. Fruit is carbonically macerated, aged for six months in concrete, and bottled in conjunction with the lunar calendar. ‘Oh!’ pays homage to Jules Chauvet and his pioneering of natural wine in Beaujolais. |
2018 Centopassi Sicilia Argille di Tagghia Via (Italy, Sicily) $24
100% Nero d'Avola grown at 500m above sea level on clay soils. Fresh and fruity, with an intense ruby color. Well-integrated tannins and peppery notes with plum and cherry accents and a long and memorable finish.

2018 Dominique Piron Morgon Cote du Py (France, Burgundy, Beaujolais) $28
“The extinct volcano that makes up the famous “Côte du Py” lieu-dit in Morgon boasts Beaujolais’ oldest soils and fourteenth-generation winemaker Dominique Piron expresses it as he only knows how: This is age-worthy, terroir-heavy Beaujolais at its most profound.”

"Composed of 53% Mourvedre, 16% Syrah, 14% 14% Grenache, 9% Petit Sirah, 6% Graciano and 2% Viognier, 42% of whole clusters were used and the rest was destemmed. It spent around 31 months in French oak barrels, 42% new. Very deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Nuestra Senora Del Tercer Gemelo has a wonderfully meaty/savory nose over a core of crème de cassis and baked plums with nut and fruit cake undertones followed by yeast extract, tilled soil, fungi and unsmoked cigar notes. The massively rich, full-bodied palate is incredibly precise, features wonderfully delineated, complex savory, earthy and mineral layers, all lifted by fantastic freshness. The jaw-dropping depth of flavors is superbly supported by firm, ripe, grainy tannins, finishing on a compelling iron-ore note. Truly, this is a wine without peers!"
