2006 Taittinger Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne $146
-
The 2006 brings back all the wonder of classic Comtes: the innocence of a joyful childhood, a free-as-air dash through endless blue daylight and a breathless plunge into an icy mountain rock pool. A wine of coiled energy, focus, precision and minerality that bores to the very core of the finest chalkfields of the Côte des Blancs.
2007 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut 1.5 Liter $395 (reg 790)
-
You read this right: a magnum of Cristal Champagne for 50% off.
We poured this at our annual Champagne event last week and the reactions were amazing. First time sippers of this wine wondered how it could be so much better than any other Champagne they ever tasted. Others were dumbfounded at the complexity, the aromas, the epically long finish. And to discout this beauty??? We didn't ask why, we just passed along the savings.
2000 Dom Perignon 'P2' $420
2008 Dom Perignon 'Legacy Edition Label' $220

-
The 2000: A beautiful nose of baked peach, lime blossom and graphite draws you into the glass of this stunning 2000, whose flavors of brioche, salted almond and spun honey are wrapped around sleek, mouthwatering acidity and a streak of smoke-tinged mineral. This deftly meshed Champagne is hard to stop sipping.
-
The 2008: There's power to this graceful Champagne, with the vivid acidity swathed in a fine, creamy mousse and flavors of toasted brioche, kumquat, pastry cream, candied ginger and poached plum that dance across the palate. An underpinning of smoky mineral gains momentum on the lasting finish.
N.V. Krug Brut Rose $265 (reg 365)
A lovely, creamy rosé Champagne, seamlessly layering vivid acidity with dried fig, poached apricot and Mandarin orange peel fruit notes, offering exotic accents of grilled nut, curry spice and dogwood blossom that expand and echo on the finish.

2009 Philipponnat Brut Clos des Goisses $248
-
Perhaps one of the most underrated Champagnes in all of Champagne.
Philipponnat’s flagship champagne Clos des Goisses comes from Philipponnat’s beautiful, walled 5.5-hectare vineyard above the historic 18th-century cellars of Château de Mareuil.
The pale-straw colour of the 2009 vintage betrays the champagne’s Pinot Noir base, but the apple and pear aromas are remarkably fresh with an energetic, persistent bead of bubbles that explodes on the tongue in a powerfully expansive mousse. A blend of nearly two-thirds Pinot Noir and just over a third Chardonnay assures a vinous fullness of texture and flavour, etched with tongue-enveloping citrusy acidity, leading to a seamlessly elegant, satisfyingly bone-dry finish.
