Renegade Wines October 2020 Newsletter

A little bit of everything in this edition. Two great new Champagnes, a terrific sale on Champagnes from the House of Ruinart, Tatomer's lovely Riesling, don't forget about Sherry, and a few more wines to peak your interest. Get ready, the weekend is nearly here.

2008 Charles Heidsieck Champagne Brut $120
Beautiful aromas of citrus peel, green apple, brioche. A medium to full-bodied Champagne with a deep and layered core paired with a racy spine of acidity, excellent concentration and a long, delicately nutty finish. Impeccably balanced.
This is Heidsieck's finest vintage since the 1980s. No kidding!

Chartogne-Taillet Champagne Le Rose $85
We received our first allocation in March and we're so excited! We opened the box and frowned: 3 whopping bottles!
Fast forward to today and we have plenty to share of this exquisite wine.
Raspberry and darker berry fruit are framed by zesty acidity. Extremely fine mousse provides a creamy cloak for the firm structure, carrying accents of pink grapefruit pith, ground anise, minerally salinity.
This is dynamite stuff.

This picture says it all. Ruinart Champagne is stacked at Renegade; stacks of luxury on sale from Champagne's oldest House of Bubbles. 1/2 bottles in stock too (so cute!).

2018 Tatomer Riesling Kick On Ranch $38.50
"Tangerine oil, white flowers, mint and tropical accents give the 2018 Riesling Kick-on Ranch a decidedly exotic feel. Rich and textured in the glass, with layers of nuance, the 2018 is another winner in this range from Graham Tatomer." -A.G., Vinous

Two great Oloroso Sherries just arrived: El Maestro Sierra 15 years old ($24) & Cesar Florido Cruz del Mar ($20).
While the later is super-user friendly, delicious, classic, the 15 year old Sherry has some weight and richness with bright acid and a complexity unusual for Oloroso.
Great with gruyère or Comte, Lamb or Pork.

2018 Jean Foillard Beaujolais-Villages $26
Juicy and floral, it feels just right any old time of day, on its own or with food. Serve it cool—even cold, on a hot day—for maximum pleasure.

2016 Potek Grenache Demetria Vineyard $36
First of all $36 for a biodynamic, single vineyard wine from SB County? Insane.
As is this Grenache.
Exotic, floral and elegant Red cherry, pomegranate, and herb aromas. The palate is plush and juicy cherry in the front with drying tannin, crushed red pepper, and a sturdy finish.
An over achiever and only 13.5%

2018 E. Pira & Figli Langhe Nebbiolo $42.50
Redefining outstanding.
An elegant, intense and structured Nebbiolo. Fresh-cut flowers, roses, violets, fresh cherries and berries. The taste combines structure and crunchiness of the fruit, richness and elegance, intensity and freshness. Beautiful!

2015 Chateau Langoa Barton $102
The 2015 Langoa Barton has an expressive bouquet with a touch of hoisin on the nose, something a little “Far East” to add a little intrigue. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very lithe in the mouth with a sweet core of black fruit. There is an approachability to this Langoa that makes it very appealing.
This Saint-Julien Third Growth gives Second Growth Chateau Leoville Barton a run for its money.
