A few fun new arrivals including Magnums Of Pierre Peters, the best Trousseau we've ever tasted and wines from Herman Story & Denner. Enjoy!

Pierre Peters Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvee de Reserve (France, Champagne)
$68 - 750ml
$168 - 1500ml

One of our favorite grower-producers in Champagne. Always terrific.
While the 750ml are outstanding there's something extra-special about drinking Champagne from a Magnum.

Domaine de Montbourgeau Cremant du Jura Brut Zero (France, Jura) $28.50
It’s rich and creamy, yet precise — bone dry and still rounded and lush. It has pleasant rustic apple fruit balanced by fierce cold-climate acidity, with hints of cashew and herbs — it would be hard to distinguish this from Champagne in a blind tasting (it's even a bit chalky!) A seriously distinguished bubbly — at a house price.

2018 Domaine Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne Blanc Clos Saint Philibert (France, Burgundy) $64
A beautiful balance between exotic, almost tropical fruit and citrus. Bright and tangy with some spice and perhaps a whiff of lemongrass? Hmmm...delicious Chardonnay regardless from an institution in Burgundy.

2019 Palazzone Orvieto Classico Superiore Terre VIneate (Italy, Umbria, Orvieto) $16.95
A perfect blend of Procanico and Grechetto grapes. Apple and pear notes with perhaps hazelnut undertones. A very interesting, refreshing white wine. Bright acidity, pristine finish.

2018 Les Matheny Trousseau (France, Jura, Arbois) $55
We're not saying this lightly: This is the best bottle of Trousseau we've tasted. It needs some decanting time but then, watchout. We love Rosenthal's (the importer) description:
"...is a brooding, serious beast, bristling with energy and thickly textured. Its brash, iron-inflected nose erupts from the glass like a missile, with pitch-black, spice-drenched fruit battling for attention with the wine’s core of mineral-tinged leather and black pepper. Not for the faint of heart, this is a profoundly structured, ruggedly tannic wine that seems to demand cellar time, but—as with the atavistic, rough-hewn Bandol of Chateau Pradeaux—these are honest, proud tannins that are somehow charming despite their intensity."
We'll have another glass please.

2018 Yann Bertrand Fleurie Folie(France, Burgundy, Beaujolais) $46.50
Fruit for Yann’s ‘Folie’ cuvée comes from 30 to 60-year-old vines rooted in sandy granite soils. The wine is semi-carbonically macerated without SO2 and is aged in a combination of oak and tank. Juicy notes of bing cherries, potting soil, and crushed flowers lead to an herb-driven finish. Fabulous. Serve chilled (but not too chilled).

2017 Denner 'The Ditch Digger' (Paso Robles Willow Creek District) $82
An intriguing blend of 55% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah, 5% Cinsaut, 5% Graciano and 2% Carignan that works wonders on your palatte.
A bright and inviting wine with red berry and cherry notes, violet, lilac, black plum, ans spices with a fantastic juiciness and a very long and fragrant finish.

2018 Herman Story Syrah Nuts and Bolts (Santa Barbara County) $55
For many, Nuts & Bolts functions as the Herman Story Gateway Drug. Each vintage delivers a Syrah of exceptional structure, body and power. Nuts & Bolts is built of the most opulent, expressive Syrah barrels in the cellar.
Treat yourself.

2013 Tenuta Santa Maria Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva (Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella) $84
This is fantastic Amarone from the traditional blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone grapes. We love this wine so much. It's a big wine to be sure but super clean and fresh. The finish is endless, the aromas are off the charts and the layers are never-ending. Our favorite Amarone (for under $150).
