2022 Christine de Mianville Jasnières Dyane (France, Loire Valley, Jasnières)

We introduced you to Christine de Mianville from Jasnières and her Dyane Cuvee last week. Well, the stars did align and we just received 2 of her other brilliant Chenins cuvees: Ad’Elles and Chant de Vigne. And like the first wine, Kermit Lynch had a significant discount on the wines. The story goes that her wines are so popular in France that she now does not produce enough to export.

Knowing that, Renegade has stocked up! 


Briefly, the differences in the 3 cuvees:

Dyane: Chenin from vines aged 12–35 years, on clay, limestone, and silex.
The most immediately expressive and fruit-forward of the three. Aromatic generosity and youthful energy.


Ad’Elles: A very young Chenin planting, planted in 2010, on the estate’s clay/limestone/silex soils.
More about fresh fruit, openness, and immediate pleasure; if brightful was a word we'd use it.


Chant de Vigne: Chenin from 35-year-old vines, also on clay, limestone, and silex. 
More profound, mineral-driven, flinty, layered, age-worthy.

One of the great wineries of the world has just released their stunning 2025 Estate Riesling, the Trocken version (bone-dry). Low in alcohol, high in stony energy, and endlessly drinkable. Think of it as a distillation of everything Donnhoff does across the range, poured into your everyday glass. Cornelius Donnhoff, following his father Helmut, runs one of the most precise cellars in the world, and it shows even here.

"Improvisacio" is the most expressive of Enric's middle tier — and one of the most exciting Spanish whites you can put on the table. Enric Soler, a former Spanish Sommelier Champion turned full-time vigneron in 2004, farms his old-vine Xarel-lo plots in Penedes biodynamically, ferments wild and works hands-off. The Improvisacio (around 6,000 bottles) is fermented and aged in a combination of Austrian Stockinger barrels and concrete eggs — a deliberate move away from new oak that lets Xarel-lo's chiseled, herb-flecked, saline personality come through unfiltered. Apple, fennel, white flowers and crushed stone, all carried by a deeply textural mid-palate. This is what serious Mediterranean white wine looks like.

This is the domaine’s flagship bottling: a serious, terrior-driven Chardonnay from the walled Clos des Rocs monopole. Vine age is approaching 90 years of age grown on stony clay-limestone soils.
Beautiful orchard fruit here with sensually textured mineral salinity. Impeccably balanced, super long finish...the most complete wine of the domaine and an essential reference point for this worthy but relatively unknown appellation. A must for Burgundy lovers looking for greatness without the price tag.
