Conversations with a Curator Series at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History: The Wines of La Spinetta



Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 5:30 PM–7:00 PM

In a special and long awaited collaboration with the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Renegade Wines helps to celebrate the reopening of their historic Museum Library with a deeper look into their rare book collections. German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer’s depiction of “The Rhinoceros” from 1515 has been reproduced for centuries and is among the master artwork chosen by La Spinetta to represent their magnificent wines. Museum Librarian Terri Sheridan will DISPLAY and discuss Dürer’s artwork that has appeared in additional publications from both the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and Associate Director of Collections & Research Krista Fahy, Ph.D., will discuss this connection and more exclusive insights during this one-of-a-kind event.  Renegade, along with a small team of volunteers, and Fabio Longano from La Spinetta will be pouring a range of the wines.  We will also be featuring one of the premier Sparkling Wine Producers from Pidemont: Contratto.  Not only a sister property to the family that owns La Spinetta, Contratto is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site and is creating some of the finest sparkling wine coming from the region.

This event will take place in the Mammal and Bird Halls, Maximus Gallery, and Museum Library, and is for 21+ Adult Members at the Naturalist level and above. While we will be tasting a vast range of the La Spinetta wines, in order to commemorate the re-opeing of the library, we will also be featuring a couple of the Library Release Wines from 2007 from their Tuscan Property.

RSVP to the Museum is required by October 21
Please note all reservations for this event are to be made through the museum itself.  Renegade is merely a happy collaborator.  We hope you consider joining the museum membership if possible, as they are a wonderful contribution to our community and the perks included with membership range far beyond this single event.

La Spinetta Wine Dinner at Olio e Limone

Dinner begins @ 7pm






On Friday, October 25, Renegade Wines and Olio e Limone will host an evening full of wines from La Spinetta and wonderful food from the talented Chef Alberto and team at Olio e Limone.
The evening will be curated by Fabio Longano, U.S. Brand Ambassador for La Spinetta.
We've linked the menu (see below) and it promises to be quite something.

Seats are $200 each, and that includes tip and tax!

The Second Annual Beaujolais Dinner at Black Sheep SB Brasserie!


We are so excited about this one!



On Tuesday, November 12 Black Sheep and Renegade Wines will host the incredible 2nd Annual Beaujolais Dinner. If you were at last year's event you know how incredible the food and wines were. We are 'kicking it up a notch' this go around.
Renegade is in the process of selecting the wines, Black Sheep is working on a special menu.
The best part? The restaurant will be yours (ours) for the entire evening!
The evening features eight of Chef's best creations (see below) with at least eight of Beaujolais' best wines; Crus ranging from Morgon to Moulin and beyond.
This second anniversary Beaujolais dinner promises to be memorable!

On Wednesday, December 4, Renegade Wines, keeping with tradition, will host our annual holiday Champagne Soiree at The Santa Barbara Club. We begin at 5pm, passed hors d'oeuvre provided by the talented Chef Humberto Perez.
